Joseph Chilcoat
Founder of NodeBOM · Mechanical Engineering, Oregon State University
I created NodeBOM because I got tired of building Bills of Materials the way everyone seems to accept — buried inside one CAD program, or scattered across spreadsheets that nobody trusts. The process was slow, error-prone, and locked to whichever software I happened to be using.
I wanted one tool that could pull parts from any CAD system, clean the data with AI, track costs, and compare revisions — without costing more than a junior engineer's lunch budget. The core experience needed to work locally, offline, and for free. Premium features needed to be worth paying for, not a paywall around basics.
NodeBOM now supports six CAD platforms, runs entirely on your machine, and keeps your proprietary data off someone else's server. I built it as an engineer solving my own problem, and I keep building it based on what other engineers actually need.
If you have feedback, a feature request, or just want to tell me what's broken — I read every message.
